Study the GNU GPL and write a short blog essay about it. You may use the SWOT analysis model (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats).
The main strength of GNU GPL would be the freedom of sharing. You have the possibility to modify application to your needs and share it with others or you can use the works of others freely. But in some cases that is also a negative side that all you add can be spread to everybody. So the weakness is that the legal rights only belong to the license holder. The GNU GPL is its self a big opportunity for people to develop and promote their creations but the threat would be other competitors or the nature of GPL might change and will not offer users the freedom anymore.
Find a good example of the "science business" described above and analyse it as a potential factor in the Digital Divide discussed earlier. Is the proposed connection likely or not? Blog your opinion.
I can’t seem to think of any good example at the moment but if to talk about the academics who put a lot of effort in their researches and works, I believe it is just fare that they get awarded for sharing their knowledge. Of course it might be a factor in the Digital Divide as the works might not always be reachable to everybody who actually would be interested.
